Introduction to Information Technology
Course Description:
Catalog: An introduction to the IT field,including binary representation, graphics, data compression, information theory, transmission and storage technology, and communications.
Course Objective: This course introduces students to the topics necessary to be successful as a professional in the IT field. The course covers both technical and business aspects of information technology. The topics of the course include the role of informaiton technology as means to gain efficiency and control in business, information systems, database uses, including data warehousing and business intelligence, e-commerce systems, enterprise resource management, and business communications systems.
Course Objectives:
CO1 - Students will be able to describe the role of information technology in supporting the functional areas, public servicesand business mission of industires that utilize IT.
CO2 - Students will be able to describe the major components of the information technology infrastructure.
CO3 - Students will be able to analyze major organizational, technological, and ethical issues associated with information systems in a corporate envrionment.
CO4 - Students will be able to identify, describe, and develop planning and implementation strategies for information technology.
