CET 3010 - From the Professor Postings
I know a lot of the students just starting up have questions about what to do to get started and what to expect. Here are some answers;
1. All of the course materials (video, assignments, etc...) are available at the course wiki site (http://ucf-cet4583.pbwiki.com/FrontPage) - some of the pages are being built, in fact they will be constantly under construction. You do not need to do a "Request Access" all of the pages that are complete that you need are available.
2. One of the biggest components of the class are the weekly quizzes. These cover the textbook chapters in order and one per week. You can always get ahead on these, but if you get behind - there is no recourse.
3. Because the quiz questions have short answer questions - you may have a question that you got correct, but was marked wrong. If this happens mail the text of the question with all information about the quiz and you name to my grader - Hiral at hiralchhaya@hotmail.com, you must also include the reference to the correct answer from the web or textbook page. If you send a poor email (no name, incomplete explanation) she is instructed to not give the points - I consider email professional correspondence and all emails should have complete information.
4. Contribution Points - there are guidelines for getting contribution points, but bottom line, anything that you provide that I include on the course wiki is worth at least a point. Really good items are worth more, and some items I don't use for this course but use in other courses are also worth points. Contributions are best submitted by bulletin board or email.
I moved the due date of Quiz 1 back a couple of days. This should allow the newer students to get used to the quiz formatting and how quizzes work. Also as a hint - all the short answer questions accept a single word as a response, so no need to write a sentence.
This first quiz is relatively easy - you will probably know most of the questions without using the text. They will get harder over time. All the later quizzes do contain at least 2 and up to 4 review questions.
